Pick a gym you can reach in about 20 minutes at your training hour, open when you are free and not packed then. Check trainers, hygiene, AC and full fees, and try it first.

Choose a gym in Dhaka you can reach in about 20 minutes at the hour you will train, that is open when you are free, and that is not packed at that hour. Then check the trainers, cleanliness, AC, the full fee and the contract, and try it once before you pay. Location and timing matter more than machines.
There is no single best gym in Dhaka. The right gym is the one close to your home or office, open at your hours, affordable for at least six months, and comfortable enough that you keep going. A famous gym across the city that you visit twice a month will do less for you than a plain one ten minutes away.
As of 8 October 2026, GymCity lists 85 gyms in Dhaka, including 14 women-only gyms. Monthly fees on Dhaka profiles mostly sit in the ৳2,500–৳4,500 range, with a one-time admission fee of around ৳1,000–৳3,000 at many gyms. That is a wide range, so the checklist below helps you decide what is worth paying for.
I compared three ladies gyms near my office in one evening and tried the one with morning ladies hours first.

Comparing a few gyms side by side, then trying the most likely one, is the pattern that works. Staying with it matters more than picking perfectly: the World Health Organization recommends adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week plus muscle-strengthening work on two or more days, and you only get there at a gym you actually reach three times a week.

| 8. Trial | A free trial or a paid day pass | Send a Free Trial request |
Pick a gym you can reach in about 20 minutes at the exact time you plan to train. Dhaka traffic changes the answer completely: a gym ten minutes away at 6am can be 40 minutes away at 6pm on a weekday.
Test it once at your real hour, by rickshaw, CNG, car or on foot, whichever you will use. A gym near your office works if you go before or after work; a gym near home works better for early mornings and weekends. If you live in a large area such as Uttara or Mirpur, a gym in your own sector is often a better choice than one a few sectors away, even if the far one looks nicer.
The gym must be open at the hours you can actually train, every week. Check early morning and late evening times, Friday timings, and whether it closes for prayer times or for part of the afternoon.
Women who prefer a women-only space should check whether the gym is women-only all day or has separate ladies hours, and whether those hours suit them. Ladies hours at mixed gyms are often in the late morning or afternoon, which can be hard for working women. Our guide to ladies gyms in Dhaka covers what to ask. In Ramadan, most gyms change their timings, often opening after iftar; ask how they will run before you pay for a package that covers that month.
The equipment only helps if you can use it when you train. Visit once at your normal hour and count how long people wait for benches, squat racks and treadmills.
Visit at the hour you plan to train to see how busy the floor really is.For most beginners, a gym needs a few treadmills or bikes, a range of dumbbells, adjustable benches, at least one squat rack and some cable machines. You do not need fifty machines. Look at whether things are broken, whether plates are left on the floor, and whether the space is big enough to move safely. Evenings from about 6pm to 9pm are the busiest time at most Dhaka gyms, so if you can train earlier, you will often get a quieter gym for the same fee.
A good gym has trainers who walk the floor, show new members how to use machines and correct form without being asked. Ask whether this help is included in your membership or only for personal training clients.
Watch for a few minutes during your visit. Are the trainers helping members, or sitting at the desk on their phones? Ask whether a beginner gets a simple plan in the first week, and what personal training costs per month if you want it later. Female members may want to ask whether a female trainer is available and at which hours.
Tip: Ask a trainer to show you one machine during your visit. How they explain it is how they will coach you.
Cleanliness decides whether you keep coming back, so check it properly. Look at the washrooms and changing rooms, not just the reception.
Look for staff cleaning equipment during the day, not only at closing.Check for wiped benches and handles, a clean floor, working showers if you plan to shower there, lockers that lock, and drinking water. Ask whether members are expected to wipe equipment after use and whether towels are provided. A gym that keeps its washrooms clean in the evening rush usually takes care of everything else too.
A gym without good air is hard to train in from March to October. Check that the AC works or that there are enough fans, and ask what happens during a power cut.
Many gyms run a generator or IPS, but some only keep the lights on. Visiting on a hot afternoon tells you more than visiting on a cool morning. Smell matters too: a gym with poor air flow gets stuffy quickly when it is full.
Ask for the full first payment, not just the monthly fee. That usually means the admission fee plus your first month or package, and sometimes extra for lockers, towels or classes.
Then ask about the contract:
Is the admission fee charged again if you stop and come back later?
How much do quarterly, half-yearly and yearly packages save over paying monthly?
Can you pause your membership for illness, travel or Ramadan?
What happens if the gym moves or closes? Is any refund possible?
How can you pay: cash, bKash, Nagad or card?
Our guide to gym membership costs in Dhaka explains what each fee covers. A simple rule: pay monthly for the first one or two months. Move to a longer package only once you know you will keep going.
Try the gym at least once before you pay. A free trial or a single paid visit shows you the crowd, the trainers, the air and the washrooms at your real hour.
As of 8 October 2026, 40 gyms on GymCity offer a free trial you can request from their profile. While you are there, talk to one or two members if you can, and read the reviews on the gym's profile. Look for comments about crowding, staff and cleanliness, not just how new the machines are.
Choosing by photos. Photos are taken when the gym is empty and clean. Visit at your hour.
Paying for a year on day one to get a discount, then stopping after a month.
Forgetting the admission fee when comparing monthly prices.
Picking a gym near the office when you plan to train on weekends too.
Not asking about ladies hours or women-only areas until after joining.
Ignoring the washroom. It is the fastest way to judge how a gym is run.
Start with the list of gyms in Dhaka and search by your area. Each profile shows the gym's location on a map, opening hours, ladies hours where the gym has them, facilities, packages and fees when the gym shows them, and reviews from members. Pick two or three that pass the first two checks above.
Then send a request from each profile: ask for a free trial, ask a question about fees or timings, or send a join request when you are ready. The gym replies to you directly, and you decide after you have seen it at your hour.
Pick between a women-only gym, ladies hours or a female section, then check trainers, privacy, changing rooms, timings, your route and the full fee before you pay.
Be easy to find and easy to try: a complete Google and GymCity profile, free trials, member referrals, reviews and replies to every enquiry within the hour.
Sell a monthly package, send a written plan, check in on the same day each week, take payment up front by bKash, Nagad or card, and set clear reply hours.
